Text to Binary Converter

Our text to binary converter, allows you to easily convert ASCII characters (Text). It will convert your text input to binary 0's and 1's instantly.

How to manually convert text to binary?

To manually convert text to binary, follow these steps:

  1. Identify the character: Take each letter, number, or symbol from your text one by one.

  2. Find the ASCII value: Each character has an ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) value. You can look up this value in an ASCII table. For example:

    • The letter "A" has an ASCII value of 65.
    • The letter "a" has an ASCII value of 97.
  3. Convert the ASCII value to binary: Convert the decimal ASCII value to binary. To do this:

    • Start with the highest power of 2 that is less than or equal to the ASCII value.
    • Subtract this value and repeat the process with the remainder until you reach 0.
    • For example, the ASCII value 65 converts to binary like this:
      • The highest power of 2 less than 65 is 64 (which is 262^626).
      • Subtract 64 from 65, leaving 1.
      • The binary for 64 is “1000000”.
      • Add a “1” at the end to account for the remaining value, resulting in “01000001” (adding a leading 0 for a full 8-bit binary number).
  4. Repeat for all characters: Convert each character in your text this way.

  5. Combine the binary codes: Once each character is converted, string the binary codes together to get the binary representation of your text.

For example, converting “Hi”:

  • "H" has an ASCII value of 72 → binary: 01001000
  • "i" has an ASCII value of 105 → binary: 01101001

So, “Hi” in binary is “01001000 01101001”.
